Birthday Fun

Well, I haven't blogged in a very long time because I couldn't find my camera cord, and then Brandon's laptop got fried, taking all my pictures with it. Thank goodness we still have our old desktop that works. Anyway, for Samantha's birthday this year, we went down to Seattle to celebrate. But first, birthday breakfast with Dad.

Blake and Shawna came up to hour house for the weekend and Shawna had free passes to the EMP (the crazy looking music building by the Space Needle), the Space Needle, and the Pacific Science Center. The girls had never been to any of them, so it was very fun. In the EMP, they got to play some different instruments.
After that, we headed to the Space Needle. Amy said she wasn't going to go up, but then changed her mind.

We ate lunch at the top of the Space Needle, and then headed over to the Pacific Science Center. The first exhibit we saw was the dinosaurs. Amy didn't appreciate the fact that the dinosaurs were moving. I had to reassure her that they weren't going to eat her.

This scary boa constrictor reminded me of the one in Harry Potter and I kept waiting for the glass to disappear and for it to come get me.

There was a cool exhibit with all kinds of butterflies. It was SUPER hot, but it felt like being in a magical place.
These butterflies were eating some fruit.

And Brandon made a friend that landed on his shoulder and stayed there for a while. Maybe he thought Brandon was a plant.
After all our fun in Seattle, we were pretty much worn out, so we headed home and Samantha opened her presents.

Then it was off to her last surprise, a date with Dad.

Happy Birthday Samantha!

Samantha's Birthday Date

We celebrated all day that Samantha turned 7 on February 5th. This was the last surprise of the night--a date with dad. Our town put on a Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Dance that happened to be on her birthday. She got a new dress, put on her dancing shoes and off they went. How sweet is that?
