It's going to be one of THOSE days....

I just took off Amy's diaper and let her run around naked for about 5 minutes. Then I thought that I should probably go get her because there might be a puddle of pee somewhere if I don't. I told her to come over to me to get her diaper on and she said no and ran into the kitchen and was quiet. I never trust my instinct when I should! So I went over there only to find that she didn't pee. Oh no, it was poop. Right in the middle of my kitchen floor. I think I'll go throw up now!

Mash

In college, my friends and I used to play this....in stake conference of all places. Not the best activity to do, but still fun! We would write big long funny stories to go along with the results. I think Brandon would actually like to see this one come true, except for the apartment part. I want to see your results too, so try it out!

Memories

Okay, I never do tags, but I gave in to this one. It's really fun to think back to good times!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the roses.
Amy is showing everyone where her buns are!

Ode to the Metro

About a week and a half ago, I got the phone call that every wife dreads. In the back of my mind, whenever I hear a siren, I always think "Where is Brandon?". Well, I didn't hear any siren this day, but I was talking on the phone to my sister-in-law when my call waiting beeped in and I saw it was Brandon. I NEVER switch over because I think it's rude, but that day I felt like I should. Brandon then proceeded to tell me that he had been in an accident and hit somebody about 4 blocks from our house on his way home from work. I immediately got off the phone with him and my sister-in-law and went to get him. Luckily nobody was hurt, including the van he hit, and not much damage was done to it. I mean c'mon. How much damage could the metro do? Being the fighter it is, the metro still started up, but couldn't shift into any gear so Brandon and his friend had to push it home. And now the metro sits in our parking spot looking so sad and useless. Here's some memories of the metro:

*It was my very first car (named The Silver Bullet) and I bought it right after high school at a whopping $1,700 (mind you this was in 1997). I didn't even know how to drive a stick and my friend, Zane, had to drive it home for me. There was a lot of peeling out before I finally mastered the clutch.

*It brought me to Utah (where I met a lot of you) from California making it up the Sierra Nevada mountains--barely. I was always leaning forward trying to help it out, and I'm sure my Dad, who was following me, was laughing at me every step of the way. It also made another trip to and from California later that year. What a trooper.

*It gets like 50 miles to the gallon--that's what you get with only 3 cylinders!

*I once had 8 people in it, including one in the hatchback trunk, coming home from a dance. This is only a 2 door car with 4 seats.

*I went off roading with my best friend at the Sand Dunes and did doughnuts--good times!

*It was in the Metro that I first learned how to drive in the snow--and ice. I remember coming to a stop sign very slowly when it was icy and stepping on the brake only to keep going and hit a curb and a little ditch. Some nice man had to push me out, and that incident bent my wheel forever making a lovely sound when you got over a certain speed.

*I think the Metro topped out at 80 mph--at least that's as high as the speedometer said it could go, and that's only if you were lucky.

*My father-in-law would always tease Brandon that he thought there were rats living under the seats because if you know Brandon, he doesn't always keep things the cleanest and he thought the Metro had personality just the way it was.

*Brandon was driving on the freeway with it once and the hood flew up crashing the windsheild--not a fond memory, but a memory none-the-less.

*I locked my keys in that car more times that I can count, which is hard to do because you have to lift up the handle when you lock it. But I always knew how to break back into it through my sunroof which was never closed because the car has no air conditioning.

*There were probably a few boys that got a kiss in that car, but the most important one is the one that ended up driving it all the time! :)

These are just a few of my fond memories of the metro--the car that is like the energizer bunny and keeps going and going. It's a sad day to think that it probably won't be going any more. I'll miss you Silver Bullet!

4th of July Photo Shoot

I love 4th of July and every year I make the girls dress up and take their pictures, despite the fact that they aren't the biggest fans--especially Amy. That's why you'll see a lot more pictures of Samantha! This year I even got more ambitious and made them matching hairbows!

Amy's attempt at showing her teeth.
And here's me trying ANYTHING to get Amy to sit still. I was asking her where her tounge was.
The girls are wearing Brandon and Shawna's medals from running the 5K--they now think that they own them!

Happy 4th of July!

The morning of the 4th of July, we got up at 5:30 AM. I dropped off Shawna and Brandon so they could get registered for the Freedom Run 5K and then headed over to the Balloon Fest with the girls. I was surprised at how many people were up that early!
We actually made it early enough this year to watch the balloons take off. This is my favorite thing about the 4th of July.
And here is the famous pig. We used to live where the hot air balloons would fly over our house, and Samantha's favorite has been this pig for years! Amy loved it too and we had to chase it.

Here's Amy watching all the balloons. Then we hurried over to the finish line of the 5K to wait for Brandon and Shawna. Here's a video of each of their finishes (blogger won't let me publish them right now, so I'll post them later). I'm a little retarded and started tearing up after I saw Brandon--I'm so proud of him and he beat his last time. He ran it in 30 minutes and 45 seconds. Way to go!
And here's Shawna right after we found her at the finish line.
Such speed demons!
After the race, we headed over for the parade--it's the biggest one in the state.
We always watch the parade from my old job because it's right in the middle of it. And if we get hot, we can go inside and still see everything--not to mention great parking!
The best part of the parade are when the jets fly over. This year they had a lot more than I have ever seen, so it was really cool! Samantha thought the planes were a little loud!
Watching the parade. The girls loved the motorcycle cops (okay, maybe that was me!) and the big balloons and the princesses.
Curious George--a big hit with the kids!
Here's Amy getting ready to go to Blackfoot (see post below). After all the festivites, we all tried to take a nap and then had a BBQ and headed for Scott & Erin's house. We made it there about 6:00 p.m. and checked into a hotel for the night. Then we went to Scott & Erin's and met up with the rest of the fam and had another BBQ and fireworks.
