Get out and Run!!!!

My sister-in-law, Erin, has organized an event for our prophet, President Hinckley. This Saturday, anyone that wants to, is going to run for President Hinckley. They are trying to reach 97 miles for the 97 years of his life that he was constantly running. I am not a runner, but I plan on at least walking a mile or two to honor this great man that lead our church for so many years. Channel 2 News is even doing a story about this! There is a blog called marathonmommies.blogspot.com that you can go to if you want to find out more. Here is a little excerpt from their blog:

Many of the Marathon Mommies will be running a combined total of 97 miles this Saturday to honor and remember the life of Gordon B. Hinckley. If you are interested in adding to our total, just leave a comment below. Maybe instead of 97 combined miles we could get 97 people out and running to honor this great man. It doesn't matter if you want to run 1 mile or 97 all by yourself! Somewhere in the world at least 96 other people will be out there running for the same reason. We'd love to know if you will be joining us.

This Saturday people allover the World are going to get off their bottoms and go running. Why you ask me? In honor of a man that was running his entire life; Our dear Beloved Prophet President Gordon B. Hinckley.

The girls at
marathonmommies.blogspot.com are inviting you to help them run 97 miles, for the 97 wonderful years of the Prophets life. Please post something about this on your blog, or email it around so that we can reach our goal. We want everyone to at least get out and run a mile. Walk if you have to. Email all your experiences and pictures to:

erin.anytimefitness@gmail.com

Please invite everyone you know that would like to honor our dear prophet!

A Little Artist in the Making

So apparently Amy thinks she is a little artist. She found a blue highlighter and thought that the wall was a great canvas. And if one place wasn't enough, she went over by the TV and went to it again. Samantha was never this active, so I think I'd better keep a close eye on my little Pablo Piaccaso.

Just for Fun!

This is mostly for the Peterson girls, aren't we cute? I don't think I ever remember Kate being that little! Love you guys!

Beka's Baby Shower

So I totally stole these pictures from Beka's blog because I forgot my camera. Sorry Bek! Anyway, Beka is my old roommate from college back in the Liberty Square days. I've known her for just about 9 years. We were reminiscing about playing our guitars in the parking lot late at night and having people slam their windows and tell us to be quiet, jumping into the pool in our clothes, and going to nutty putty caves late at night among other things. Boy how times have changed! I used to never make it to bed before midnight in college, and now it's hard to even make it that far. She is pregnant with her 3rd boy and I'm so excited for her. Love you Beka!

Katie, Shayla, Me

Beka with her cute mom and Grandma. Her mom is getting married on Saturday! So exciting!

My husband

What is his name? Brandon Timothy Peterson

How long have you been together? Just about 6 years

How long did you date? What do you consider "dating"? We were friends for 6-7 months, dated for 4 months, engaged for about 3 1/2 months.

How old his he? 30!

Who eats more? Good question. Brandon eats treats way more, and then hardly eats dinner because he's full of sugar.

Who said i love you first? He did. I am way too stubborn to do anything first!

Who is taller? He is a whopping 3 inches taller. I always try to catch him by wearing heals, but it never works. His grandma said that Heavenly Father grew me short, just for Brandon!

Who can sing better? Probably me, but Brandon can definitely sing louder!

Who is smarter? I'd like to think that we're both pretty much geniuses!

Who does the laundry? Me.

Who pays the bills? I do, but he supplies most the money!

Who sleeps on the right side? He does.

Who mows the lawn? Me. I think he's mowed the lawn once or twice since we've lived in our house. How does that work?

Who cooks dinner? I do and it's probably better that way, otherwise we'd all be in for a surprise!

Who drives? It used to always be me because the minute the car turns on, he falls asleep. But he has gotten a lot better and now he mostly drives when we're both in the car.

Who is more stubborn? I think we both have our moments, but he is so much more easy going than I am, and he always says sorry first.

Who kissed who first? He kissed me. I have the stubbornness, remember? I even made it really hard for him to kiss me too!

Who asked who out first? We were friends for so long first. I don't think he ever officially asked me out, he just decided to hold my hand one day while we were watching a movie.

Who proposed? Brandon, and I was completely surprised because I had no idea that he had enough money for a ring.

Who has more friends? We both have a lot of friends. What can I say, we're just cool!

Who is more sensitive? Definitely me. And way more so after having kids. I can cry at anything...a TV show, even a commercial, a sweet moment between my kids. I'm a cry baby.

Who has more siblings? He does

Who wears the pants? Probably me. Let's face it, the women run the house right??? If mom isn't happy, no one is! :)

I tag anyone who reads this and hasn't done it yet. It's kind of fun to look back!

Food Storage

Okay, so I've been on this food storage kick lately and I'm just curious to see what everyone else is doing.....what you have in your food storage, any suggestions, cool gadgets, etc. So please comment because I'm feeling a little like I don't know what I'm doing! Maybe I should just pack away a bunch of candy bars. That'll give me some good nutrition, right???

Just like Big Sister

So yesterday Amy came over to me and said, "poo poo" which is normal, but then she pointed to the bathroom. So we walked over there and she started to try and climb on the toilet. I decided to let her try, so we put Samantha's potty seat down and Amy was so happy to be on the toilet just like Samantha! I'm pretty sure that hardly anything came out, if at all, but how fabulous would that be to have a 17 month old potty trained!

After that, she wanted to play hide-n-seek in the cupboards with her big sister. I love it when they play together. The other day I was giving them both a bath and was just about to take Amy out when Samantha said, "No Mom! Don't take away my best friend!" It's things like that that make me love being a mom!

Can you say disaster?

So you all remember our infamous floods, right? Well, this morning, Brandon knocked out a wall in order to expand our guest bath. We've been wanting to do this ever since we moved in, and the floods kind of gave us the excuse to do all the remodeling.

So he pulled out the hammer and went to it! Can you see the toilet in the shower? Isn't that great?

On Saturday, we are having a friend help us drywall and install laminate flooring all throughout our basement. I am very excited!

This is the progress on our guest bedroom. We had new carpet put in a while ago and now we just have to patch the holes in the ceiling. The bed has also been put back in and has been cleaned.

I also want to put this carpet in our family room. Hopefully by the time it's done, it will be beautiful and everyone will want to come stay with us.....hmm, wait a minute!

Surprise, Mom!

I've heard of Christmas in July, but what is this?

Samantha appeared in my room today in her swimsuit. Never mind the fact that there are inches of snow outside! And what do you think came walking around the corner next? Oh, little Amy in her swimsuit too! I think these girls share my longing for warmer days and sunshine!

Snuggle Up

So I was doing laundry this morning and was about to take the clothes out of the dryer, when I turned my back for a minute, and when I turned around, Amy was trying to climb in. She's never done this before, and when I looked closer, I saw why.

I always knew Tigger, our cat, loved the warm laundry, but I never thought he would actually climb in the dryer! And Amy loves that cat so much, she was just trying to be where he was! Now I have to make sure I check the dryer completely before I turn it on!

Strep Throat

Have any of you ever had this? Well, I guess I should have seen something bad like this coming after working with kids so much. I started feeling like I was getting a cold and then woke up one morning with half of my throat swollen shut and white spots all over it. Not to mention the chills, fever and extreme exhaustion. I couldn't even move to go to the doctor until Saturday and he prescribed me some penicillin. I'm crossing my fingers that no one in my family gets this because I wouldn't wish it on anyone. And it's been pretty entertaining trying to talk, what with the drugs and the swollen throat. Maybe this is Heavenly Father's way of telling me I need to be quiet for a little while!

Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam!

Today was Samantha's first day of Sunbeams!

(the before picture)

She has been talking about it all week, but when we finally got to the door--she froze! I had to sit with her for the first little bit, and when it was time for me to go, there was a little kicking and screaming. But then she soon realized that Sunbeams was pretty cool and she got to color and sing songs. She is ready to go back again next week. Whew!

Brian's Wedding

Brandon's cousin, Brian, got married in a really beautiful indoor garden called "Le Jardin" in Sandy. A lot of Brandon's family was there and it was really fun to see everyone.

I guess this cake was made by Jenny's (the bride's) brother. It was his first-ever wedding cake. Pretty unbelievable, isn't it?

This is right after they said "I do!"

Now here's a table full of crazy people!

Cute girl cousins!
Amy, Maylie, Samantha, and Kate.

Happy New Year!

We had a small gathering at our house for New Year's Eve. All of us were still pretty tired after our trip to Washington, so we decided just to take it easy. There was Brandon and I, Cody & Laura, Joe & Jana, and our adopted Petersons, Jason & Dianne Hales and their son, Chase. What did we do? That's a silly question! Of course we played games all night long. We've kind of been obsessed with the sign game when we have enough people. Well, if you've never played, just know that each person has to have a sign. For this game, Brandon thought he would be a bunny and bounce his feet up and down. Well, if you don't know Brandon (who wouldn't know Brandon!) you would know that sometimes he gets a little enthusiastic and loud, and well, out of control. When we were playing the game, he started bouncing up and down a little too hard and.....

...broke the chair. Don't worry. It's not the first time he broke something with his buns--there was the coffee table too, but we won't talk about that!

Then the kids came upstairs naked. I don't know what was going on down there.

And this was Cody saying Happy New Year's, with little naked Maylie on the side.

Last of all, Tigger thought that the broken chair made a great resting spot.

After 8 bottles of sparkling cider, way too much food, numerous games of signs, Apples to Apples, pinochle and canasta, we all headed downstairs to watch the ball drop, pop the party poppers and give our loved ones a little smoochy. The kids had a great time throwing snappers outside and watching them pop. Happy New Year! 2008!
